I’m a married lady now. Gone are the days of feigning that I have perfect hair/skin/nails/teeth/personality. Hubby sees me when I first wake up in the morning (before I even realize I have a huge zit on my forehead), he sees me at before we go to bed (pink acne cream dotted across my cheeks), and he sees my when I’m sick (pretending to be Puff the Magic Dragon with tissue stuffed up my nostrils).
But that doesn’t mean I don’t still at least try.
Cue The Face Shop’s Mango Seed Glow Date-Prep Butter. On TFS’s website: “A must-have date-prep butter that delivers moisture and a fair glowing complexion to increase your dateβs attraction.”
Ooh, so this magical cream can increase my attraction? I’ll take it! π
This is actually a day cream that is marketed as being perfect for just before a date because it will give you hydrated skin that glows. It’s made with mango seed and cherry seed extracts. It also has macadamia oil which is probably the biggest ingredient for hydration. Adenosine and niacinamide are added to help with anti-aging and brightening. This does contain added fragrances and preservatives so be aware if you are sensitive.
The consistency is just how you would imagine a product with “butter” in the name. It is thick and creamy. It applies quite smoothly to the skin. Interestingly enough, this cream smells nothing like mangoes… or cherries… or any fruit for that matter. It has a not unpleasant floral scent, but I was just expecting more “tropical fruit” scent.
With my normal to oily skin, this cream was a little much for the day time. In just an hour or two, my face had become shiny and in need of a touch up. I tried it at night and liked it much better. My skin felt more hydrated and smooth by the next morning. For those with dry to normal skin, this would probably be a good day or night time cream, but if you have oily skin, stick to the night time for this one.
I rate The Face Shop’s Mango Seed Glow Date-Prep Butter 3.5 pomegranates. It was a nice cream, but nothing super special for me and I was really looking forward to a fresh, fruity scent. Still not a bad product, though!
To try out this fruity moisturizer for yourself, you can find it on Amazon here.
How do you “date-prep” yourself?
Let’s get social!
Mango seed eh? Hmmmm. Did you try those Karuna masks!

I haven’t, but I saw that Ulta is having a sale on them on Jan 8. I got a little Christmas money so I’m thinking a trip to Ulta is in order! π

Great review! I was hoping that it would do everything that it promised. The idea of it sounds lovely! π xo

It was a nice cream, but not for daytime for me. There’s a counterpart chia seed line that’s supposed to be for oily skin so I may like that better. π

Hopefully you will! I’ve noticed sense I’ve moved from a drier climate to a more humid one, my skin has been oilier π

Well, surprised to hear that it didn’t smell like mangoes as the core ingredient is of course, mango seed.

I know! So sad Hahaha I really wish it had smelled more like mangoes. Or at least fruit in general. π

I’ve been curious about this line – I love mangoes but not sure about mango SEED though.
Too bad this is too emollient and DOESN’T smell like mangoes!
Hehe, I wear a night guard to bed – it’s super sexy! π

I’m not kidding, I was super disappointed that it didn’t smell like mangoes. I mean, it doesn’t smell bad… I just wanted mangoes! hahaha! I hear the Chia Seed line is better for oily skin like mine and I (coincidentally) have a sample of that, too, so I’m interested to try it and see if it’s a better fit.
