Hello Lovelies! I’m still dealing with the aftermath of the move so please bear with me! I promise I’ll be back to my usual self soon! 🙂
Today I’m reviewing ELF’s Poreless Face Primer. I went to the drugstore looking for a different brand’s face primer for pores, couldn’t find it, and saw this one. It only cost me $6 USD so I figured, why not? It turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made in awhile.
ELF formulated this primer to blur pores for a flawless look under makeup. It also includes Vitamins A and E to help nourish your skin and tea tree oil which we all know can help breakouts.
I used a moderate amount under my makeup and my pores were definitely blurred and reduced in size. I tried to capture the effects on camera, but they just didn’t really show well. 😕 I felt that it made my makeup stay pretty well (lasted 8 hours and only touched up my powder). I have an oily T-zone anyways so it didn’t really help that but, contrary to some reviews online, I didn’t feel like this was oily. It is a silicone primer so if you don’t like that feel, then you may not like this one. I’ve found, though, that you only need to apply a small amount for effectiveness and that helps to prevent that slick feel of silicone primers.
Other reviews also claim there’s a bad scent. It’s the tea tree oil. You can’t buy something with tea tree oil in it and not expect that scent! On that note, the smell is surprisingly strong but fades quickly and doesn’t linger. Because of the tea tree oil, I felt that some of my acne was slightly reduced after only a couple of uses. It wouldn’t be a replacement for actual acne treatment (obviously), but it could potentially help zap some of the tiny guys.
Overall, I liked this primer and will use the rest of the bottle happily, though I may wait to use it daily in the winter when my skin is drier to help prevent that slick feeling. I give it 4 pomegranates because I like that it blurs pores, contains vitamins and tea tree oil, helps my makeup to last, and is a great price, but I’m not a huge fan of silicone primers overall.
If you’d like to try it yourself, you can find ELF’s Poreless Face Primer at your local drugstore, WalMart, Target, or on eyeslipsface.com here. It’s also available on Amazon here, but for a higher price.
Have you used any primers from ELF? What did you think? If not, what is your go-to face primer?
