Beauty When You’re Under the Weather

Beauty When You’re Under the Weather

If you’ve been following me on social media, you probably know that I have been sick recently. There’s nothing worse than an illness, especially during the holidays, to bring you down. When you’re sick, the last thing on your mind is your beauty routine–it should be on resting and getting better. But your appearance can be an indicator of the health of your body and, once you’re well again, you want the health of your skin to be close to normal.

Below are some of the things I do (and did recently) to help myself and my skin until I could kick that sinus infection’s rear. Disclaimer: This is not medical advice and should not be taken as such. Please consult with your doctor and use your own judgment for medical needs. Read more

To look my best around this time of year I, of course, focus on how I can switch up my skin care for my changing skin. This time of year, it’s growing colder and darker. I can’t stand being cold so the heat gets turned up and the fire is sparked. But with rising temperatures, the humidity is zapped from the air, causing my skin to dry out. Usually my skin is normal to oily, but in the winter it becomes a lot more dry. Below are products that I like to use to combat dry winter skin to make sure that my skin is #HolidayHaute and I look my best!

Murad Time Release Acne Cleanser–Review

Murad Time Release Acne Cleanser–Review

Let’s step away from the Asian beauty today and talk about one of my staples: the Murad Time Release Acne Cleanser. It’s actually pretty surprising that I haven’t done a review of this cleanser yet as I use it almost every day. Maybe because it’s such an integral part of my routine, I overlooked it and concentrated on newer, shinier products?

Shame on me.

There’s another acne cleanser by Murad, but I much prefer this one. I tried the other cleanser and it was too harsh for my skin. I experienced dryness, tightness, and redness. All the “ness” that you want to avoid! But let’s get back on track.

The Time Release Cleanser is formulated with “encapsulated salicylic acid” so that you don’t get one, big burst of acne fighting ingredients, but a low release even after you’ve rinsed it off. It also has beneficial amino acids, hyaluronic acid, and antioxidants to help you skin stay hydrated and glowing.

It’s a whiteish, creamy wash that won’t really foam. I much prefer foaming cleansers, but this is my exception so far. I don’t particularly like the smell–it reminds me of what hospitals smell like. Or it just has that “medicinal cosmetic” smell that isn’t really flattering. It doesn’t really bother me though because as soon as you rinse it off, the smell it gone.

I like to use this as my morning cleanser as it doesn’t really remove makeup or foam, making it a pretty bad second cleanser in my routine. It’s gentle enough to use every day as well. I don’t use it as my only acne fighting step because I have hormonal acne (including cystic) that likes to wreck havoc so I need a little more oomph. It does help combat those little suckers that like to put up every now and then. It makes for a better preventative step than reactive which is why I try to use it every morning.

I give the Murad Time Release Acne Cleanser 4 pomegranates. It’s gentle, but pretty effective for straggling pimples that like to ruin your day. It’s a much better preventative cleanser than a reactive treatment.

You can buy this cleanser on Murad’s website here or on Amazon here.

What cleansers do you like to use to prevent those pesky pimples?

OZ Naturals Matrix 6 Mega Bright Eye Gel–Review

OZ Naturals Matrix 6 Mega Bright Eye Gel–Review

*This is a sponsored post. I received the following product in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own and are not reflective of the brand.

If I don’t get nine hours of sleep each night, eat a healthy diet low in sugar, and drink at least 8 full glasses of water each day I end up with saggy, dark under eyes. Can you imagine how often that is? Often.

So I jumped at the chance to try out OZ Naturals’ Matrix 6 Mega Bright Eye Gel. Mega bright? Yes, please! Besides, their Hyaluronic Acid Serum is the bee’s knees.

OZ Naturals Hyaluronic Serum–Review

Hey everyone! I hope you’ve had a great Monday so far!

I’m taking a moment, today, to branch away from the East Asian brands and tell you guys about a serum that I’ve been using by OZ Naturals. When I had the opportunity to work with them to test run their Hyaluronic Serum, I jumped at the chance. They have a pretty impressive list of qualities: cruelty-free, vegan and natural ingredients, and (for the Americans) made in the USA.
