So many secrets! 😉
That was a long title, but the brand for this product is Secret Key. The name of the product is Secret Perfume Peeling Body Scrub, but that’s a little misleading. It isn’t a “scrub” but a peeling gel. Peeling gels are chemical exfoliators that, when massaged into the skin, exfoliate dead skin cell layers, causing them to ball up. It’s a wonderfully disgusting product that I’ve pretty much fallen in love with (spoilers!).
Now, peeling gels have gotten some flack from the online world for being “gimmicky” and “fake”. Honestly, this is the first peeling gel I’ve ever tried so I’ll be honest and say that I can’t attest for the other brands, but this one is legit.
Peeling gels typically use fruit extracts as their exfoliant, but this one uses sugar and walnut shell powder to exfoliate. It also contains beneficial oils like argan and almond oils.
This is marketed to be used on your face and body which is interesting as I’ve really only come across peeling gels meant for your face. To use, make sure your skin is clean and dry. Apply a layer of the product and wait about a minute, then gently massage into the skin. You will see skin start to ball up as you massage. You’ll want to do this for about 2-3 minutes and then rinse with water.
So gross, but so satisfying. The first time I did this, there was a ton of dead skin and it was darkish in color. Now that I’ve been using it two times a week, there’s much less dead skin that emerges and it is white in color.
It’s gentle enough that there’s no redness or sensitivity after I use it, which I love. Plus it leaves my skin feeling baby smooth afterwards. There’s a couple of downsides that I’ve learned and one is that it can be difficult to completely rinse off. I will use a pump of my foaming cleanser to help sweep away remaining pieces because my skin will feel squeaky clean in a bad sort of way. It also seems to zap moisture from my skin so after I use this, I will follow up with my hyaluronic acid serum and a sheet mask if I have time. That helps prevent any dryness resulting from the peeling gel.
The scent is… not my cup of tea. It doesn’t smell like perfume which is a plus, but it smells like… alcoholic flowers. That’s the only way I can describe it. Not my favorite scent, but it’s not too heavy once you’re actually using it and there’s no lingering scent, thankfully.
I give the Secret Key Secret Perfume Peeling Body Scrub 3.5 pomegranates. I discovered my newfound love of peeling gels so I know that I’ll definitely be trying more in the future. This bottle goes a long way, too. I’ve been using it twice a week for about two months now and I’m not even halfway done. On the bad side, the scent isn’t very pleasant and it sucks the moisture from my skin. For now, I’ll continue to really enjoy this peeling gel and will look forward to trying new kinds in the future. 😉

I really liked the few peeling gels I have tried. I am not sure if that stuff is really skin or just the gel balling up but my face always appears brighter afterward. We need to thing of a full proof way to test these things. lol BTW I LOVE how you use pomegranates to rate your products!!

This is my first peeling gel, but I’m totally ready o try more! I found that if you get a rubber glove, clean off a countertop, and put some on the countertop, then you can see if it’s skin or just the gel balling up. I did it for this one and nothing! I even left it for a few minutes then rubbed it again and still nothing. It has to be skin (at least for this one). 😉 Oh, and thank you for the compliment! It was my brain child, but Hubby gets all the credit for the graphics! 😀

Wow!! Good idea!! I tried it on my t-shirt. And couldn’t get it to ball up. Maybe it really is skin which is gross but good. Lol
