Oh, Skinfood. Will our love affair ever end?

Probably not anytime soon. Today is all about Skinfood’s Black Pomegranate Volumizing Serum. I’ve reviewed the Black Pomegranate Toner and Cream (here) and really liked the line so far. The Black Pomegranate line of products is geared towards anti-aging and brightening.

If you didn’t get a chance to read my review of the other Black Pomegranate products (you should!), then I’ll let you know that black pomegranates are chock full of antioxidants, like many other fruits. In particular, black pomegranates contain high amounts ellagic acid (a type of antioxidant). This helps with dullness. It also contains ingredients like macadamia seed oil, pomegranate seed oil, and biotin that helps with brightness, wrinkles, and overall tone/texture.

Here’s the cool part: I received some sample packs of this so I haven’t tried the full size, but the full size bottle comes with a separate cap filled with powder. When you buy your’s, you replace switch out the caps (the one that comes on it has the tube for the pump), shake, switch the caps back out and use! The powder is dispensed when you switch caps and push the button so that the serum can work its magic. For a more detailed review of this, you can check out Lady Fox’s post here.

Since this is a serum, it’s to be used between toning and moisturizing (more info here). I used this at night because I can test thing easiest during my night time regimen.

Despite not having the fun ability of mixing the powder in like a full size, the serum seemed to still have its effectiveness. The smell is the same as the cream from this line–sweet, but not overpowering. I really, really love how this line smells. The serum is a thick, milky consistency and it smooths over your skin easily. I found that only a little covered my entire face and neck. It absorbs quickly and doesn’t dry tacky so you could use this in the morning if you wanted.

How did it do? I did notice after only a couple of days that my skin was brighter and the tone had evened out. Any very fine lines around my eyes had started to smooth out. I definitely loved this serum! I felt that it even had some moisturizing properties that is great for us oily/combo skin girls (maybe not so much for dry skin). I give that Skinfood Black Pomegranate Volumizing Serum 4.5 pomegranates.

  1. Well of course you’d love anything made with Pomegranate, duh. 😉
That powder is crack, isn’t it? So gimmicky but oh my gosh I want to try it now. I’m skipping the sample and just getting the full size so I can play with that cap powder thingy. And her before and after looks really impressive. I want to volumize my face, yo! It’s not even that expensive, to boot! Thanks for bringing this product to my attention, it’s seriously going on my wish list. 😀
