Skinfood Black Pomegranate Toner and Cream–Review

Skinfood Black Pomegranate Toner and Cream–Review

By this time we all should know that I have a Skinfood problem. They are arguably one of the most heard of Korean skincare (and makeup!) brands around. Their motto is “good food for health is also good for the skin” which I personally love. So with my love of Skinfood, it’s no surprise that I was excited to try this Black Pomegranate Toner and Cream. (I mean, do we need to cover how much I love pomegranates? 😉 )

Just for funsies, here’s a photo of a black pomegranate because I found myself thinking: what the heck?

Pomegranates, like a lot of other fruits, are high in antioxidants which are amazing for the skin. The black pomegranates are no different, containing ellagic acid (a type of antioxidant). The Black Pomegranate line claims to brighten dull skin and smooth texture (better known as pores and wrinkles). Antioxidants are meant to help with hyper-pigmentation which is great for me!

As per usual, I worked this into my nighttime routine. I feel that I can best judge results this way. I first tried the toner by itself.

The toner has a very, very lightly sweet scent. It is a little thicker than my usual toner (Murad’s Hydrating Toner). It felt nice on my skin, but I didn’t see any huge differences from using just the toner (with my usual night routine, of course). As I’ve mentioned before, I’m just picky about my toners so this one didn’t wow me, unfortunately. I rate the Skinfood Black Pomegranate Toner 3 pomegranates because it was nice (no burning or uncomfortableness), but it just didn’t really knock it out of the park for me.

I then tried the cream alone and wow. Just wow. The consistency is thick and smooth which I looove in a night cream. And the smell is just divine. It’s sweet, but not overly sweet. I would seriously just smell the package and was nearly in tears when I ran out of this product. The application is like a dream. You really only need a small bit to cover your entire face and neck. This cream was perfect for me in the summer since I have combo oily and dry skin and it’s been humid. For the winter, it may not be moisturizing enough. Also, for those with normal to dry or extra dry skin, it may not be a heavy enough night cream for you. I feel like I didn’t have enough applications to see if it helped with any hyper-pigmentation, but I’d definitely be willing to buy a full size of this cream to find out. 😉 I rate the Skinfood Black Pomegranate Cream 4 pomegranates. It was an awesome night cream for me in the summer months, but I’d have to switch to something more potent in the winter and it may not be enough for someone with dry skin.

As for the pair together? When I reviewed Etude House’s Baobab products, I noticed better results from using multiple products in the line. With these, I didn’t feel the same so if I were to buy anything, I would skip the toner and get the cream. So I leave my ratings the same for these two.

If you’d like to try out Skinfood’s Black Pomegranate Toner, you can find it on Amazon here. If you want to test out the cream, it’s also on Amazon here.

What’s your favorite antioxidant rich product?
