In the Asian beauty world, lip tints rule. Well, not quite, but they’re pretty prominent in fashion. The gradient lip (usually achieved with a tint) is something that has become quite popular by teens, young women, and celebrities alike. So of course I was excited to get my hands on a new tint! This RiRe lip tint arrived in my Lucky Box by Memebox which I did a haul post of here.
This tint claims to last all day with absolutely no budging (hence the “tint” part of it). I have the Wine Burgundy shade which is a beautiful red shade. This is a total oddball for me because I’m not a red lipstick person. That’s actually one reason why I was pretty excited for this one because it forced me out of my comfort zone.
The packaging is pretty cute. Closed, it looks like a small nail lacquer bottle. The top screws off to reveal a small doe applicator. The scent is actually very nice and smells fruity… like cherries. I quite like it!
This RiRe tint has been compared to Clio’s Lipnicure. Clio is a more expensive product so RiRe would be considered the “drugstore dupe”. Since I have yet to try Clio’s Lipnicure, I found an awesome comparative blog post on Berries in the Snow. If you’re interested in the comparison, you can check that link out! 😉
With ingredients like rose hip oil, avocado oil, macadamia seed oil, apricot seed oil, and vitamin E, this should be a pretty moisturizing tint. Unfortunately, it’s not. I find that I need to make sure my lips are well exfoliated and sufficiently moisturized before applying. I like to apply a balm while doing the rest of my makeup and, when ready to apply lip tint, gently pat lips with a tissue to remove excess balm. I find that, with application, I prefer to dab some of the tint on my lower lip, dab to spread across my lips, and press lips together to transfer. When I use the doe applicator, I always seem to get way too much product!
The color is very beautiful and perfect for Fall, I think! I did a swatch on my hand (with thin and thick areas).
Below is a comparison of natural lips and with the RiRe Wine Burgundy Lip Manicure.
This tint is pretty long lasting, but doesn’t feel like it really stains your lips–more like a long lasting lipstick. It does wear with eating and drinking, but I applied a bit not too long before bed one night, forgot about it, and woke up with tint (and no damage to my pillow or sheets!). So it doesn’t just fade without actually touching the lips.
At a fraction of Clio’s Lipnicure tint, I feel that RiRe’s “dupe” version is worth it. I’m not sure I’d buy this again as I’d rather try another tint that didn’t wear off with eating and drinking, but I do love the color. For those that do gradient lips, this is a nice tint for that as well. I give RiRe’s Lip Manicure Rouge High Fix lip tint in Wine Burgundy 3.5 pomegranates.
