Touch Fit Lip Tattoo–Review

Touch Fit Lip Tattoo–Review

Hi again! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend and were able to recoup before tackling the week ahead. (Don’t forget that I’m a little MIA for the time being because, as you read this, I am in the middle of a huge move. So, while I have some posts scheduled for you, please bear with me as I may not be able to respond as quickly as I normally do!)

Moving on… I found the most unique beauty product yet! As you may know, I might have a slight online shopping problem and as I was browsing Ebay for any tempting deals I came across the Touch Fit Lip Tattoo. I mean… come on!Β A lip tattoo? I had to know more!

This is in the shade Sexy Pink, but there’s also a few other shades to try including a beautiful orange.

It says that it’s made with natural ingredients. This includes blueberry extract, aloe, papaya extract, and anise fruit extract. I did get the 7 Romantic brand which, after some research seems to be the knock-off of 7 Seconds (the more popular brand). After reviewing the ingredients they seem to be very similar so, while this review is about my experience with 7 Romantic, I will post the buying info for 7 Seconds at the end of the post.

The claim is that this has 24 hour staying power. The (very interesting) way of using it is to apply to the lips, let dry for 5-10 minutes, then peel off the layer to reveal beautifully “tattooed” (read: stained) lips. I had no idea how this would work, but I got it for only a couple of dollars so I figured, why not!

I waited until I didn’t have to go anywhere for at least 24 hours because… what if something went wrong with a lip tattoo?

This was the before with nothing on:

I applied the lip… concoction. It’s a very thick, gelatinous texture. I did find, after some trial and error, that you should be generous with the layering because it works best if there is a thick enough layer to peel off once it dries. Apply exactly where you would apply any other lip product. It’s best to keep your lips slightly parted so that they don’t dry together! This product did have a scent to it that was mildly sweet and fruity. It was pretty nice.

Here’s a photo to show the product applied and in the process of drying (and a slightly concerned blog author/guinea pig):

Oh goodness.

After it dried, I started to peel the layers off. It doesn’t peel all in one strip (like in the beautifully staged photos of advertising), but like I said, if you can apply it thicker, it’s easier. To peel, gently lift the edges and work your way to the middle. When dried, it feels springy and almost plastic/rubbery. It’s odd to explain. Below are photos of one peeled layer and the other is with the product applied to my upper lip with the layer removed on my bottom lip. When applied, the color is super bright and a little unnerving, but when removed it becomes much softer.

It’s suppose to moisturize as well, but I didn’t get any moisturization that I could tell from this lip tattoo. The color payoff is fantastic, though. After trying this out (and not being completely terrified of the result), hubby took me out to dinner since I was feeling so pretty. πŸ˜‰ I did see some color rub off on my napkin when I used it and it did fade so I wouldn’t say this would last for 24 hours, but I feel like it would give you a good color through your work or school day. It also seems to fade evenly so that’s a bonus for me. The color is softer solo, but when I applied some Burt’s Bees for moisturization, it really popped! Here’s a photo in natural light.

Overall, I really liked this product! It was definitely unexpected for something that cost about $3 and is called a “lip tattoo”, but it’s definitely one of my favorite shades and I have fun using it. I give it 3.5 pomegranates because I like that it’s made with natural ingredients, giving it a sweet, delicious scent and I also like the color payoff. I don’t like that it’s not as long lasting as it claims and it’s not very easy (as in, it’s time consuming to wait for it to dry) to apply and near impossible to reapply midday if needed. I feel like it’d be most fun for a date or girls’ night out when you don’t need itΒ to last a fullΒ 8-12 hours without reapplication.

    1. it has an applicator like a regular lip gloss ( the squeeze kind). So you never have to actually touch it until it dries. And you don’t have to be super precise with it. If you can tell in my photos, the edge isn’t completely straight. Haha! It’s definitely a fun and unique product though!

  1. So, right after you applied it. I was totally cracking up. But then I was thought, OMG, that’s not funny – what if it’s a serious nightmare to get off? But it all turned out good in the end!
